Privacy policy
Last updated 16 October 2026
This policy explains how Unshakeable Muslims looks after information about the parents and children who use it. It covers the website at unshakeablemuslimsapp.com, the Parents' Village, and the Unshakeable app for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows.
Who we are
Unshakeable Muslims is a family program run by Emaan Power. It helps parents raise children who love their deen, through courses, the Parents' Village and a safe online town for children. The program is for parents and their children. A parent is the main member, and children take part as part of their parent's membership.
For anything in this policy, email us at support@emaanpower.com. We are responsible for the information described here (the "data controller").
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the program: account details, what families create in it, and some technical information.
- We do not show ads, we do not sell anyone's information, and we use no advertising or third-party analytics tools.
- Messages to the AI characters in the town, and to Noor in the Parents' Village, are sent to OpenAI to write the replies. On iPhone and iPad, the app asks before the first chat with a town character.
- Our team checks chats and posts to keep children safe.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your family's information at any time by emailing support@emaanpower.com.
What we collect
Account details
- Parents: name, email address, password (stored securely by our sign-in provider; we never see it), your child's name, how you joined, and, if you set one, a Parents' Village code (stored only in scrambled form) and a recovery mobile number.
- Children: a display name, the email used to sign in, a password, and optionally age and gender (used to place children in the right team and group), their team, group and course.
- Profile: a photo, a short bio and interests, if someone adds them. Parents in the Village can also add a city, parenting stage and language.
- Sign-in history: when someone signs in, from which part of the program, the type of device and browser, and the IP address.
What families create
- Posts, photos, videos and GIFs shared in the feed, comments, reactions and stickers.
- Messages in chats, the town chat and group chats, and messages to our team.
- Course work: reflections, challenge entries, Memories summaries and video notes, gratitude, salah logs, habit check-ins, letters, questions for the Imam and feedback.
- Parents' Village posts, replies, private messages to our team, and conversations with Noor.
- Things done in the town and games, like points, cards, avatars, items and progress.
Device features we use, only when you choose to
- Camera and photos: only to take or pick a photo or video that you then share.
- Microphone: the dhikr counter listens on the device to count and never records or uploads sound. On the website, Noor's voice typing uses your browser's own speech-to-text (in Chrome, that sends the audio to Google).
- Approximate location: only if a parent turns on "Near me" in the Parents' Village (not available on iPhone or iPad). We store a rough area of about 40 km and the city you type, never your exact position.
We do not access contacts, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
How we use it
- To run the program: sign-in, courses, the town, the Parents' Village, rewards, teams and groups.
- To keep children safe: checking messages and posts, handling reports, and acting on safety concerns (see Keeping children safe).
- To support families: answering messages, sending course updates and reminders by email, text or WhatsApp, and helping parents follow their child's progress.
- To fix problems and improve the app (see App diagnostics).
We use information this way because it is needed to provide the program you signed up for, because it keeps children safe, or, for optional features like the AI characters on iPhone and iPad, because you agreed.
AI features (OpenAI)
Some features use an AI service from OpenAI to write replies or check messages:
- The town's talking characters (the Gatekeeper, Imam, Cafe Owner, Theater Guide, Shopkeeper, Librarian, Town Keeper, the talking tree and others), the Detective game coach, and Ramadan helpers. What the child types in that chat, the last few messages of the conversation and the child's display name are sent to OpenAI to write the reply.
- Noor, the Parents' Village coach, and the Village companion chat. What the parent types is sent to OpenAI to write the reply.
- Safety checks: messages to the AI characters and Noor, and some posts and chats, may be sent to OpenAI's moderation service to spot harmful content.
- Staff tools: our team may use OpenAI to help draft replies or to pick highlights from challenge entries. In that case, those entries are sent to OpenAI.
We never send photos, videos or voice recordings that families upload to OpenAI. Under OpenAI's terms for businesses, it does not use this information to train its models, and it keeps it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring.
We save AI chats so our team can check them for safety. Please don't share full names, addresses, schools, phone numbers or other private details with the AI characters.
On iPhone and iPad, the app asks once before the first chat with a town character. We store that answer on the account. To withdraw it, email support@emaanpower.com. Until you agree again, the characters won't answer on iPhone or iPad.
Who can see what
- Other members can see a child's display name, avatar, profile photo and bio, and what they post in the feed, galleries, the town chat and the groups they are in. They also see when someone is in the town.
- Chats are seen by the people in that chat.
- Questions for the Imam are answered on a public board in the town. You can choose to ask anonymously.
- In the Parents' Village, other parents see what you post in groups and your profile. If you turn on "Near me", they also see your city and rough area. Private messages to our team are seen only by you and our team.
- Linked parents can see their own child's progress, such as salah and habit check-ins.
- Our team (staff and approved moderators) can see accounts and content, including chats and AI chats, to run the program and keep children safe. When our team looks into a problem report, they see the child's name and the parent's email address.
Email addresses and phone numbers are kept private: other members can't see them. Some other details given at sign-up, such as a parent's name or a child's age, are stored with the member's profile and are not yet kept as privately as email addresses.
Keeping children safe
- Messages in the town and in AI chats are checked automatically against a list of words and topics, and some are also checked by OpenAI's moderation service. Messages that break the rules are blocked or removed, and a short chat time-out may follow.
- Flagged messages are saved, with the account that sent them, for our team to review. This includes the original text of anything removed.
- If a message suggests a child may be at risk of harm, our safeguarding lead is alerted straight away. The alert itself contains no name or message. We may contact the child's parent.
- Anyone can report a message, post or person. Children and parents can also block another member; our team can't be blocked.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the website or app stores a notification token for your device on your account, so we can send alerts like messages, mentions, friend requests, waves, course reminders and Parents' Village updates. Notifications go through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, and on Apple devices through Apple's push service. A notification shows a short title and message. Private messages in the Parents' Village only say that you have a message.
You can choose what you are notified about in the app's Notifications settings, and you can turn notifications off at any time in your device or browser settings.
App diagnostics & usage data
The Unshakeable app sends a small amount of technical and usage information to our own servers only. We use no third-party analytics or advertising tools in the app.
- Device: model (for example "iPhone 13"), operating system, processor, graphics chip, memory, screen size and language. We do not collect the device's name, serial number or advertising identifiers.
- App: version and platform, and a random install ID made when the app is first opened.
- Usage: when the app is opened and closed, how long it is used, and which screens and features are opened.
- Performance and errors: start-up and loading times, smoothness, memory warnings, failed or slow network requests (the kind of request only, never the full address), error messages, and a short technical log.
- Account link: when someone is signed in, this is linked to their account so we can help with problems.
Diagnostics never include chat messages, posts, anything typed, names, email addresses, phone numbers, passwords or photos. The app strips anything like that out of technical messages before sending, and our server checks again.
Report a problem: if you send a report, we receive what you type, the kind of problem, the device and app details above, the screens you visited last and the recent technical log. A screenshot is included only if you switch it on.
Your choice: in the app, open Notifications and switch off Share app diagnostics. This applies to everyone using the app on that device, and it deletes anything not yet sent.
The website also records anonymous page-speed measurements, sometimes linked to the signed-in account, to find slow pages. We keep these for 30 days.
International transfers
Some of these providers, including Google, Vercel and OpenAI, store or process information in the United States and other countries. When information leaves the UK or the EU, we rely on the providers' data protection terms, including the standard contractual clauses approved for these transfers.
How long we keep it
Some information is deleted automatically after a set time, as marked below. Everything else we keep while the account is active, and delete when you ask us to or when the account is deleted.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account details, profile, posts, chats, course work and Village content | While the account is open. Deleted when the account is deleted (see below). |
| Town chat in the live town | 24 hours on screen (automatic). Our saved copy for safety review is kept while the account is active, and deleted on request. |
| AI chat records (town characters, Village companion) | Kept while the account is active, and deleted on request. |
| Noor conversations | Until you delete them in Noor, or the account is deleted. |
| Safety flags, reports about people, and safeguarding alerts | Kept by our team for safeguarding, so we can protect children if a concern comes back. |
| Sign-in history (including IP address) | Kept while the account is active, and deleted on request. |
| Detailed app diagnostics | 30 days (automatic). |
| Daily totals and grouped error counts | Kept to track app quality. They contain nothing anyone wrote. |
| Problem reports and their screenshots | 12 months (automatic). |
| Website speed measurements | 30 days (automatic). Town performance samples are kept while the account is active, and deleted on request. |
| Backups of the database | Daily backups kept 14 days, and a 7-day recovery window. |
Deleting an account: email support@emaanpower.com from the email address on the account. Our team checks the request, then deletes the account and its content within 30 days. Copies in backups disappear within a further 14 days. We may keep a safety record, and anything the law requires us to keep.
Your rights and your child's rights
Parents, and children old enough to make their own requests, can ask us to:
- see the information we hold, and get a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete information or the whole account;
- stop or limit some uses, or withdraw consent (for example for AI chats on iPhone and iPad);
- stop a child's account from collecting more information.
How to ask: email support@emaanpower.com from the email address on the account, and tell us the account name and what you would like. We may ask a question to check it is really you, so that no one else can get your child's information. We reply within one month, and we don't charge for this.
Parents of children under 13 can review their child's information, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection at any time, in the same way.
Complaints: please tell us first at support@emaanpower.com. You can also complain to your data protection regulator (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk).
Children
The program is for parents and their children. Children's accounts are set up by a parent or as part of a parent's enrolment, and parents can see their child's progress. We collect only what children need to take part. Children's profiles show a display name and avatar, never an email address or age. Our team moderates the spaces where children talk to each other.
Cancelling a membership is done by email: use Cancel membership in the Parents' Village, or write to support@emaanpower.com. Payments are handled outside the app.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections, and stored with Google Cloud. Access rules limit who can read what: private details such as email addresses and phone numbers can be seen only by you and our team. Parents' Village codes are stored in scrambled form. No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong, we will tell affected families and the regulator when the law requires it.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is important, we will tell parents by email or in the app before it takes effect.
